Profile - Singapore Radio and Electric Company
From
the Singapore Radio & Electric Company, founded in 1961 and being
a retailer of electrical and electronic products, SRI was incorporate
in 1971 to manage their expanding client base, and it eventually became
the sole distributor of Italian-based Techogas kitchen appliances in Singapore.
Their growing success saw the new SRI building, inaugurated in 1994, come up and as a symbol of this as it shows off a 60,000 square foot locale in Tagore Industrial Avenue.
And the cool quiet behind this since the beginning of the new SRI building is of course none other than the widely known masters behind the air conditioning industry, Carrier.
"One
of our dealers is also a big supporter of Carrier," said William
Tiang, Asst. General Manager in SRI. "That's how we got to know about
it, and after an undeniably impressive introduction, we are now big supporters
as well."
This took place before the SRI building came to and SRI and Carrier have been inseparable since. Thus "… Carrier has been here since this building started functioning, be it with the older system before or the present new one," said Yeo Nai Chuan, SRI's other Asst. General Manager.
So what makes Carrier the ultimate choice?
For William, it is all the positive things he continually hears about this household name: "Carrier is about energy saving and all the other positive assets. I've heard a lot of the good side of Carrier," William continued.
However,
looking around the beautifully furnished office of SRI, there is no sign
of Carrier. Sophisticatedly subtle, one cannot help but appreciate the
discreet way Carrier does its job. Even the change to a new Carrier system
about a month ago did not get in the way of normal office work: "There
was minimal drilling and knocking and the Carrier men did most of the
job after office hours and during the weekend or holiday," explained
Nai Chuan who was obviously impressed with it all.
"The automatic adjustments of the aircon to wonderfully maintain temperature control, saves energy," added William. "Carrier has lived up to its name -- the Carrier man can," he continued, after a prided show of the building which includes functional yet aesthetic showrooms, a fully equipped warehouse and SRI's head office.
And the only other good system they could think of to compare was an older system of Carrier itself: "The air is more natural, things run quieter. Carrier has beaten its own self," quipped William. "The service is very fast too; we call, they turn up!"
And Nai Chuan couldn't help but add another good point to the finale; Carrier's discreet remote control box: "It detects and reports the problem in code form telling the Carrier man exactly what is wrong with specifically which part of the system," mused Nai Chuan.
They
would have liked to say more good things about the new system but that
will have to wait since the new Carrier system just arrived about a month
ago. Nonetheless, SRI recognises the importance of good after sales service,
a policy they still believe in today, and surely Carrier shares the same
principle.
So this is Singapore Radio and Industry Pte Ltd. Keen. Strategic. Effective. A network that sees a bright future ahead. For SRI, it is ALL Systems GO! With Carrier no doubt.
