Customer Satisfaction Profile - 80 Robinson Road
Underline

80 Robinson RoadAround the corner from historical Lau Pa Sat, along Robinson Road, stands a special buidling. Unless you go there on business, you will probably not notice it as all the buildings there seem to merge into each other.

80 Robinson Road won a building industry Merit Award for design and construction in 1994 when it was completed. Mr Latiff, the Building Manager poudly tells us that among the building's unique qualities was its hollow floor slabs, joined together and strengthened with special cables. It was designed and built in such a way to make it lighter than, yet sa solid as a 'normal' building because the MRT line runs under it.

The building, with its 28 floors of offices, is totally cooled by Carrier. Mr Latiff and his team are aided by a building automation system, which controls and monitors the air-conditioning, lighting and other electrical equipment, like lifts and water pumps. And of course, the Carrier Man, who comes regularly to check and maintain the air-con system.

"A reliable contractor is essential for efficient and professional services," said Mr Latiff, talking about his expectations of backup services. "Carrier's engineers are well-trained, able to solve difficult problems." he quipped, commending the good service. Other qualities he looks for are speed of response, technical expertise and availability of spare parts.

Mr Latiff, who has been working for one of Singapore's leading property groups for over 18 years, has managed other buildings and has had experience with other air-conditioning companies, so he should know.

Another key factor is the availability of spare parts. "With others, I've found that it often takes longer to indent spare parts, even when you work with their authorised contractors," say Mr Latiff, "With Carrier, there's no problem."

He also commends Carrier for the thorough maintenance done every month, and the annual shutdown when each chiller unit is thoroughly checked and cleaned - with the necessary oil and filter changes. To illustrate the pains taken, Mr Latiff says that it takes 4 days to complete each unit.

To ensure the systems in the building function at all times, Mr Latiff and team are glad to work with the best in the market. And where air-conditoning is concerned, it's Carrier, of course.
