Singapore Turf Club
“Cooling the world's most advanced racecourse facility”
Even before its official opening, this new racecourse and entertainment complex won a design competition. Elsewhere on this immense facility, plans for different kinds of competition include a grandstand for 30,000 patrons, stables for 1,000 horses, a golf course, a country club, a music centre, equestrian centre, horticultural gardens and commercial developments.
The grandstand is the architectural centrepiece of the site. Its shape was inspired by the graceful and powerful forms of a horse in motion.
The use of construction materials architecturally and visually unifies the many buildings of diverse sizes and functions at the site. Three themes - horses, gardens and water - link the various elements.
With its elegant and innovative structural system, "smart building" technology and exciting patron amenities, the Racecourse at Kranji is probably the most advanced racing facility in the world.
No wonder the Turf Club selected the most advanced air-con systems to cool it down.
